| Cherry Spice Cake |

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 2/3 C shortening
- 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
- 2 1/2 C flour
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 t baking powder
- 1 t cloves
- 1 t nutmeg
- 1 t cinnamon
- 3/4 C buttermilk
- 1 C tart cherries
Instructions
- Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat.
- Mix 1/2 C flour with cherries.
- Combine remaining flour with soda, baking powder and spices; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
- Fold in cherry flour mixture. Bake in greased layer cake pans at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
- Frost with icing.
