Cherry Syrup

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 c. plus 1 tbsp. water, divided
  • 2 c. pitted cherries, fresh or frozen (thawed)
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Mix cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water.
  2. Combine cherries, sugar and 1/4 cup water in saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Gradually stir in dissolved cornstarch. Continue to cook, stirring, until syrup becomes thickened and clear.
  4. Stir in almond extract and cinnamon. Serve over pancakes,
  5. French toast, waffles, or ice cream. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
